The Moomin ABC mugs are decorated with adorable initials featuring various Moomin characters. The illustrations of the “I” mug are based on the comic book strip Fuddler’s Courtship, and they feature various Moomivalley residents acting all strange. The Inspector thinks he is being spied on, while Fillyjonk uses an umbrella even on a sunny day. The peculiar psychiatrist, Dr. Hatter, has managed to get inside their heads with his insinuations, but fortunately, Moominmamma is there to resolve the situation.

The I mug is part of the “Reading, writing and the Moomins” initiative that promotes the importance of literacy and the joys of reading. The mugs’ Moomin alphabet is based on Tove Jansson’s hand-drawn initial capitals and lettering created for the book The Memoirs of Moominpappa as well as her maps of Moominvalley. The mugs’ form is familiar from the Iittala Teema series, but in contrast to most Moomin mugs, the ABC mugs’ size is larger: 13.53 x 0 fl oz (4 x dl. dl).
